braBeing nominated for The Blogger Recognition Award is something that has taken me by surprise, and I have no other to thank but the lovely Sophie from Sophielaetitia (If you’re reading this Sophie, a massive, massive thank-you!). The idea that my voice is being heard and my words are being read and liked by others still astounds me. To those who don’t know me I might come across as quite a confident new blogger, but in reality I’m still getting the hang of things. To be nominated for doing a pretty sweet job of it all is the loveliest thing ever. Especially when it comes from someone whose blog I follow and look forward to reading week on week. That girl really has her blog game down, you should go and check her out; her fashion staples really are dreamy!

Now, without further ado…

The Rules

  1. Thank the blogger that nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to show your award.
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  5. Select 15 bloggers you want to give this award to.
  6. Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them, providing a link to the post you created.

How I got started:

My blog began in the late summer of 2016. At this point in my life I had been living back on land for a year after working as a Photographer on a Cruise Ship for two years. Although I had read blogs in the past, it wasn’t until someone I knew started a blog that I decided to give it a try myself. I wanted somewhere to share my experiences with the world without judgement; my friends were tired of hearing me talk about it, and I needed an outlet. I wanted somewhere to escape to that I could let it all out, but in a way that would help people to recognise that they too could travel the world and see all of the amazing things that it has to offer. Although I would love to dabble more in the fashion side of things as well as travel, that is a work in progress as I build up my self confidence a little more on the other side of the camera.

My two pieces of advice for new bloggers:

As a fairly new blogger myself (Still under the year mark!), the biggest piece of advice I could give someone is this – Just do it. By this I mean have the confidence to put your words out there, and don’t let fear of judgement stop you. By holding back you won’t get those words off your chest, and you will feel so much better when you do. Blogging is about helping yourself as well as helping others. There are so many lovely people out there that are just waiting to find a blog piece they can relate to, and yours might be just what they are looking for.

My second piece of advice is this; don’t just use Twitter for promoting your blog. Interact with other bloggers, get involved in Twitter Chats, share others’ posts that you find useful, and let people know that you like their work by commenting, not just hitting that little like icon! Seeing ‘read this’ over and over again can get irritating if you aren’t willing to do the same for them in return.

Lastly, here is a huge shout out to all of the lovely bloggers out there that I would like to nominate for this award also:
