Earlier this year I finally moved into my own house (Hurray!). With Christmas just around the corner, my latest wishlist consists of mostly Christmas decorations and seasonal interior inspiration. Yes it may be a little early, but as I plan on keeping these decorations for future holidays, I see it as an investment. If you’re thinking of updating your own home and love all things festive, read on – You might see something you just can’t go without!
Traditional Christmas Wreath – £20 From Matalan
I remember growing up with one of these always on our front door, the only difference was they were always freshly made and picked that winter when we collected our Christmas tree. This one is sure to last a little longer, comes with a lovely little sign in the centre and includes LED lights all the way around.
‘Dachshund through the snow!’ Cushion – £14 From Next
Utterly adorable cushion that’s bound to bring a smile to your face, unless you’re more of a cat person… This one gave me the giggles every time I looked at it. Only £14 and available online.
Bavarian Pine Christmas Tree – £129.99 From Littlewoods
Probably the priciest item on the list, but a Christmas tree is an important necessity for every home, and it’s best to invest in a good one if you’ll be using it for years to come. What I love about this tree design is the sprinkling of fake snow on the edges of each branch; as though you’ve brought the outside weather inside.
Festive Pot Pourri – £6-12 From Next
There’s nothing like that wonderful Christmas smell that hits you when you enter your house after a long hard day at work. For me this means the smell of berries, oranges and spices; a tradition in our family. You can usually find it in most supermarkets, but my favourite has always been the one from Next given how strong it is and how long it lasts.
Glitter Scene Cushion – £12 From Next
Another cushion design for the holidays, bound to suit any household with it’s neutral colouring. It is also a reminder to go visit an ice rink during the holidays – Who doesn’t love losing their balance and collapsing in a heap in front of your friends?
UK themed Christmas tree decorations – £9.99 From Littlewoods
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a bit of a collector when it comes to travel items, and I’ve invested a fair bit of money in baubles from around the globe. These London inspired designs come in a set of 3 and are on sale down from £17.99! Total bargain.
Christmas Pudding Cushion – £14.99 From Littlewoods
Okay, so I might be going a little overboard on the cushion front, but you can’t deny this one’s kinda adorable. You could always put it on a chair in the kitchen and go with the food theme, then under the Christmas tree once all the presents are opened to fill up that empty space.
Gingerbread man tree decoration – £2 From Tesco
For the sweet tooth’s out there, this one’s for you. As well as buying one for my own tree (It’s only £2 – Why not!), I have this one in mind for a certain family member who used to give these tasty treats to me and my brother as kids. Look away now, Nan!
Printed check fleece throw – £5 From Matalan
No house is complete without a bit of tartan appearing at Christmas time. Throw it over the back of your sofa to brighten up the living room, or along the end of the bed for a festive feel.
Christmas Spice Tin Candle – £8.99 from Very
For that extra scent kick I love to light a candle in my house over the winter season. This one is fairly similar to the smell of the Pot Pourri; with blends of cinnamon.
So there you have it – my latest wishlist; and a festive one at that. My aim this winter will be to style my house in traditional Christmas colours with a Scandinavian style twist, as seen from most of the items I plan to purchase! I hope I’ve inspired some of you out there. Although my bank balance won’t really thank you for it, let me know if you’ve spotted any other Christmas essentials that I might fall in love with. Happy festive shopping!
